A space for making that is also a space for living. Two perpendicular gabled volumes in dark-stained wood, rooted in the vernacular of the surrounding farmland, joined by a gallery that doubles as lounge or dining room. One holds a double-height studio with three-sided mezzanine office; the other, the kitchen and loft bedroom. A stair in each volume allows the sequence to be walked through without doubling back. Polished concrete floors, a quiet nod to Scarpa, catch light through picture windows that frame fields and views across the Hudson to the Catskills.
