Kafka Oasis was revitalized from an interstitial space hidden within the neighborhood. By reopening blocked alleyways, the design transforms a previously enclosed and underused site into an open public space for the community. New functions are introduced within the existing structural framework, allowing old and new elements to coexist. A community canteen, greenhouse, and shared activity spaces are arranged around a central courtyard, while shaded canopies respond to Wuhan’s hot and rainy climate. The project reactivates the site as a place for everyday community life.
