The center spans 152,000 sq.m.,and combines a technically complex program within an integrated urban environment. The form took its inspiration from the structure of a neural network: the center’s functional modules act as “neurons”, while the shared public spaces serve as “synapses” where cross-professional communication is born. The layout ensures a clear separation of personnel, materials, and waste flows, which is necessary for biological and pharmaceutical laboratories. Part of the main courtyard is an open urban square where the flows of residents and center employees intersect.
