Beneath Shanghai's plane trees on Wukang Road, Wu Bin transforms a historic Spanish-style residence into a dialogue between past and future. Preservation laws kept the structure intact—even window proportions fixed. The solution lay in the unassuming annex: reimagined and linked to the main house, an L-shaped layout emerged, wrapping around a courtyard that became the home's center. What makes this project remarkable is its quiet insistence on slowness as the ultimate luxury. Here, design returns to the essence of living: how one coexists with time, nature, and self.
