Conceived as an energy retrofit project, the intervention upgrades the school through full external insulation and internal renovation. A new secondary south façade integrates horizontal metal panels providing low-tech passive solar shading, reducing summer overheating while enabling winter gains. Set above 1.80 m, the vibrant panels preserve students’ views across the courtyard, support climbing plants, and create a dynamic dialogue between architecture and users. Overall, the intervention enhances indoor and outdoor comfort, supports biodiversity, and strengthens the school’s identity.
