CRA-Carlo Ratti Associati, with Salone del Mobile.Milano, unveils a digitally fabricated Alpine bivouac ahead of the 2026 Winter Olympics. Designed from 3D scans of mountain rock, the CLT, aerogel, and metal shell blend into its surroundings. Fully self-sufficient, it features 5kW solar power, storage, and air-conditioned water. Once built, the bivouac will be airlifted to its high-altitude site in the Italian Alps, becoming a permanent refuge for mountaineers. The bivouac is the latest in a series of key projects from CRA that blend the natural and artificial world.
