CHROMA LIFE PROJECT integrates living microorganisms into letterpress printing to explore circular design and new forms of expression. Using biodegradable, bacteria-derived bio-ink, it produces high-chroma “Kinetic print designs” that change with light, humidity, and time. In preliminary experiments, we examined mineral concentration as a factor in bacterial color change and established a printing method based on bacterial growth. These efforts led to bio-printed building materials using microbial ink, offering sustainable surfaces that treat temporal change as value rather than deterioration.
