Cafe N+ is a lively public space that connects a historic shrine and a new theater in Takatsuki City, Osaka Prefecture. The café, limited to 18 square meters due to code constraints, features a mixed structure of reinforced concrete and wood framing, with glass facades on three sides to admit an expansive view. The design respects the existing landscape, with a building height below the existing shrine’s eaves and a symmetrical plan reflecting the torii gate. Large glass panes and solid wood elements ensure a bright, welcoming space that harmonizes with both old and new architectural contexts.
