The retrofit and extension of the Um Bock School in Differdange preserves identity, memory, and community. Built in the 1950s, its concrete and brick structure was retained for authenticity. Missing bricks were replaced through workshops where children created their own, embedding their creativity into the school. Interlocking volumes and flexible classrooms foster light, openness, and inclusion. New shared spaces like a sports hall and dance area connect the school with the wider community, turning it into a civic and co-created landmark.
