Amidst Kyoto Station’s redevelopment in Japan’s ancient capital, this project renovates the entrance and forecourt of a cherished 43-year-old local office building. Concept: “Connecting people and architectural history to the future.” Polished travertine floor and wall surfaces regain their luster. Indirect lighting within a geometric ceiling casts refined shadows. Organic exterior paths enhance depth. Strategic benches offer glimpses of activity while maintaining personal space. Perforated bricks subtly connect passersby and visitors, shaping a gentle urban space with renewed value.
