The Silent Dialog project, located near Aoyama Cemetery in Tokyo's Roppongi district, transforms a tranquil space for mourning into a sanctuary for both private reflection and public engagement. The design blends public serenity with private sorrow, offering spaces like a café, chapel, and funeral hall. Unique “vessels” evoke gravestone motifs, guiding visitors through life, loss, and memory. Integrating into the landscape, the project bridges Aoyama Cemetery with Roppongi's daily life, fostering cultural continuity and providing a refuge for all.
