400 years ago, during the samurai era, Kanazawa City rivaled Edo and Kyoto as a leading economic power. This prosperity preserved traditional crafts, including gold leaf production, with Kanazawa producing 99% of Japan's gold leaf today. This project features a product hall at a highway parking area near Kanazawa, with a sales space and public restrooms. The facade, inspired by samurai residences, combines wooden and black panels. Inside, 3,000 gold leaf tiles crafted with UNESCO-recognized 'Edged Gold Leaf' techniques create an immersive golden space reflecting Kanazawa’s rich culture.
