This project created a spa garden on the roof of an iconic building off the Highline. Inspired by the building’s curvilinear forms and playful spirit, we used advanced manufacturing technologies to craft elements from stone and Corian. We leaned into the asymmetricality of natural forms as well as the homogeneity of natural materials. The canopy itself is a sunshade with an undulating perforated surface that, in sunlight, expresses the shape of a cloud. By night, light glows through the perforations. This visual delight is also a workhorse: a solar panel that powers the rooftop paradise.
