Located on the south bank of Zhang Village River in Qingdao, the sports center is a complex of different exercise programs. The design focuses on the transitional role that the sports center plays between the scale of the river park and the urban scale decided by high-rise buildings and urban routes around. As a facility in the park the complex, containing different programs organized vertically and needing large interior spaces, should be open to the landscape. Most parts of the ground floor and the circulation are outdoor with the park passing through so that people continue their promenade.
