At River Ranch rammed earth walls emerge from the land and form a protective shell around the building. These walls create a strong anchor on the site and provide a layer of natural texture and color to the project. In contrast to the rammed earth, glass expanses open physical and visual connections to the outdoors. As a transition between these two elements, a steel trellis and wood screens give partial sun protection by filtering the light and providing shade. A sculptural copper fireplace, steel details, and local limestone floors complement the walls and balance the textures in the space.
