The project used to be the Pengpu Machine Factory, which was founded in the 1950s. The site features a certain complexity: first of all, there is a mix of functions and formats, involving office, exhibition, business incubator, sports and leisure, outdoor performing space, etc; moreover, there is a mix of old and new buildings. "Data Cube" is the unified motif of the architecture, which runs through the whole design process. Based on the method of breaking the whole into pieces, the design cuts the volumes into flexible and harmonious cubes.
