Located in their private house 35 km northeast of Beijing's city center in the district of Shunyi, the architect and his wife added an open-fire kitchen to their backyard. The architect says: "We wanted to create a place for fire, where people gather and cook," The outdoor kitchen design takes cues from brutalist buildings. The concrete volume serves as a fireplace, an open-fire kitchen, a stove with two cooking plates, a smoking hood, and a 7-meter-long dining table. The open-fire kitchen brings a unique BBQ and cooking experience directly to friends and family.
