The Blood As Material lamp collection promotes environmental protection by using a biomaterial made with discarded pig blood sourced from local slaughterhouses. Strict government regulations in Taiwan lead to high disposal costs for waste blood, making it economically viable as well. This design not only showcases a visually distinctive outcome but also aims to change perceptions regarding biomaterial design. By working with controversial materials like blood, it challenges preconceived notions and encourages new ways to approach sustainable design and unconventional materials.
