Amsterdam is a real bike city. But where to park them? At a complex city-centre location, a clever design, innovative building methods and a multidisciplinary collaboration transformed a square with a jumble of parked bikes in a pleasant public space. With a safe underground bike parking below. An Amsterdam School-style bridge enhances the entrance, continues into a brick wall in the parking and connects the underground with the world above. A project about meeting and connecting. In space, time and design. Because bicycles don't need daylight, but people do.
