This project sits in Rice University where the architectures from different times are related by brick. It investigates the paradoxical situation of brick building in the modern time between the structural limitations of brick and programmatic needs of various activities. It resolves this duality by introducing timber into the project and creating a structural system in which they are interdependent. As a result, the image is a brick architecture that inherits the material tradition of the campus; the content, made possible by timber structure, can accommodate different scales of programs.
