In May, Eurometropole and Racing Club de Strasbourg officially launched the Populous-designed renovation project for Stade de la Meinau. The design seeks to sustainably modernise the existing stadium, with the amount of demolition work required reduced to a minimum. Its renovation incorporates environmentally sustainable features, including the installation of photovoltaic panels, rainwater recycling and ice water production facilities. An innovative reuse of 4,400m2 of decommissioned A340 aircraft fuselage sections forms the south façade.
