When we were commissioned with this project, we had the great fortune of being able to choose the location within the grounds of the Chablé Hotel, located 26 kilometers from the city of Mérida, in the state of Yucatán, Mexico. We chose a site with a slightly hilly topography with a small canyon running diagonally across it and covered by the lush flora and fauna of the Yucatan jungle. We knew that, with a location like this, designing spaces for children to have fun and learn from the site would have to integrate the framing of nature and the site with our architecture.
