Samoa Gymnasium undertook most of the indoor events of the 16th Pacific Games, adding a fine example of China Aid architecture with local characteristics to the Pacific region. Samoa is an underdeveloped region. Under the unique climate conditions, limited cost and technology conditions, the design strategy suitable for poor areas was adopted. Through a series of passive low-technology green building strategies such as shading, roof insulation, natural ventilation and lighting, building energy consumption is effectively reduced, as well as building operation and maintenance costs.
