Seaplane Lagoon Ferry Terminal is a civic icon that not only urbanistically but also environmentally enhances the Alameda, CA waterfront. The terminal design artfully exploits the projection of sea level rise which justifies a dramatic approach of ramps and steps leading to a terminal floor raised above the Bay Trail. Materials specified for sustainability, and aesthetics. The fabric roof creates a translucent medium that transforms the terminal into a luminous beacon at dusk and evening. With careful consideration of wildlife, the team provides a healthier ecosystem and water system on site.
