Playa Viva is an environmentally conscious resort run entirely off-grid, generating 100% of its energy from solar power. The 6 bamboo treehouses are inspired by the prismatic bodies of the Mobula Rays that migrate past the shore. The bioclimatic design principles suit the natural environment: large eaves of the roof provide shade and rain protection. The façades allow for natural cross ventilation. The structures are mostly built from bamboo, one of the fastest growing renewable building materials in the world, and showcase the wide variety in which this versatile material can be used.
