Alleppey, a town with canals, backwaters, beaches, and lagoons is also known for Kerala’s famous boat race, Vallamkali. This rug design draws on the essence of this boat race infused with energy, rhythm and spirit. It celebrates the mesmeric synchronisation of the rowers with its charming play of green and gold. The green in our rug symbolises Kerala’s vibrant greenery, the serenity of paddy fields, coconut leaves and palm trees. The gold entwined in the rug, represents the culture and history of Kerala. This piece was woven with the finest quality sisal fibre using our jacquard loom.
