I chose Toni Morrison for her accomplishments as the first African-American woman to win a Nobel Prize. I was asked to make intentional decisions on imagery and layout to embody their personality and writing style. We could only use black and white imagery and type. I chose images that show Morrison in a very human style with texture and stark contrast. I contrasted long and short columns and used big pull quotes for drama.
