The Tianjin Vanke Square project transformed an existing, abandoned 3 level super market into a 25,000 m² community retail center. Extracting small-scale architectural elements from the old houses on the 5th Avenue and inserting them into the original building to break the monotonous facade. Expressing red and white traditional materials with contemporary techniques to express Tianjin's historical sense and responding with the surround. This typical architectural image can stimulate the vitality of the streets and become a link between the old and new urban areas.
