Mingei (folk craft) was created in 1925 by Muneyoshi Yanagi, Shoji Hamada, and Katojiro Kawai. Mingei is a social movement that has lasted for 100 years and advocates "finding beauty in everyday utensils and aesthetically transforming life and society. While profoundly understanding traditional mingei, the design attempted to evolve into a new expression by fusing tradition with a modern perspective for this 100-year milestone. The simple, white-based layout with a strong presence symbolizes "everyday life tools" while attempting to create an affinity with the beauty of rustic tools.
