“Back to the Futura” was a workshop that explored a hybrid creative workflow for contemporary designers and artists. Participants learned to edit and composite authentic letterpress assets using digital tools for modern results. The typefaces used in the promotional poster—Cheltenham, Futura, and Spartan—originated in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. But the design’s kinetic composition and bright complementary colors boldly declare the relevance of letterpress in the twenty-first century and beyond.
