The 2.5 acre lot had existing attributes such as a pond, stream, brook, and mature trees which informed the landscaping direction. We respected the existing flora while also unobtrusively introducing outdoor living environments that would allow us to be at one with nature. We curated settings and site-lines to appreciate the property’s beauty. The courtyard introduced materials such as black metal and the Japanese tradition of Shou Sugi Ban (charred wood) that would complement the black accents in the barn’s architecture allowing for a seamless transition from architecture to landscape.
