Friends, Peace, and Sanctuary brought together book artists and members of Philadelphia’s Iraqi and Syrian refugee communities to create artists’ books that speak of personal narratives of displacement, immigration, and sanctuary. The book, translated in English and Arabic, documents process and progress of the project and the created artistic works. The book structure and layout attempts to reflect issues and experiences of displacement and immigration, commonalities and difference, by melding two books (stories) into one by sharing a common cover while housing two book blocks.
