9 immersive pavilions were delivered for Freycinet Lodge on Tasmania’s East Coast, Australia. The Pavilions provide a point-of-difference to the 60 cabins established in the 1990s. Inspiration taken from the unique coastal setting has shaped the architecture. The siting and form-making takes its cue from the fluidity, layering and interplay of the coastal rock formations, while the materiality responds to context and place. Liminal worked with community, environmentalists and aboriginal elders to develop a contemporary, sustainable response framed by connection to place, attracting new guests.
