As the first and largest cross laminated timber (CLT) academic building in the US, The Design Building is a dynamic public space of exchange, display, collaboration, research, and experimentation celebrating a shared commitment to sustainability. To create a center space of collaboration, studios, faculty offices and classrooms surround a skylit Commons for gathering and presentations. The building also forms a green roof terrace, used during the day for outdoor classes and in the evenings for university-wide receptions.
