The aim of the redesign of the "Direction de l'Aviation Civile" is to improve the image of the civil aviation authority in public, to show its seriousness and to increase its visibility. The previous symbol, a stylized lion with wings, was replaced by the three characters "DAC". The basic idea is the reference of the abstracted character to the front view of an airplane. The "A" in the middle stands for stability, "D" and "C" show openness.
