The Iconic Mosque reinvents the classic components of centuries old typology. The minaret is no longer a static tower,it becomes a beam of light and water which stands out in the city skyline at chosen times to call for 5 daily prayers. The prayer hall varies in size, it is regularly a cube with low ceiling. On Fridays and Feast the nb of worshipers triples at least, and the origami inspired ceiling expands to form a dome to fit and celebrate the crowd. This variation in volume is not only a spatial experience and responsive form, it is also a way to manage energy consumption for AC and lighting.
